3 -- GRAIN IN THE STONE

EPISODE PREVIEW

Humans split a stone and reassemble the pieces to build a wall, a cathedral, a city. From the Greek temples of Paestum and the cathedrals of medieval France to modern Los Angeles, this film expresses humanity's faith and fancy as architects and builders.

More Information

If you want to learn more about human blood groups, see Wikipedia entry "Blood type", especially the first sections through ABO and Rh blood types (down to "Other blood group systems"). Bronowski might not have known much about groups other than ABO and Rh, which allow doctors avoid giving blood transfusions that are incompatible with the patient's blood. Many other blood group types can cause minor incompatibility in transfusions.

NOTE ABOUT WIKIPEDIA ENTRIES

Most scientific entries start simple and work slowly into more complexity and detail. At some point, most ordinary folks will drop out, which scientifically educated people will last longer, and only experts make it all the way. This means that almost anyone can get started and learn something new, even they don't read very far. So your own drop-out point is when you become satisfied that you will not profit from reading on.
